A Christmas present for my sister. She just got married in August (I used the wedding colors, yellow and gray), and with her across the country starting her own home with her husband, I thought it’d be neat to put some love-centered quotes on the backs of the coasters. My Pinterest boards have amassed enough quotes by now that I had plenty to choose from. ;) The set was wooden; I mostly freehanded it (also made up a lot of it as I went along!) and sealed it with Mod Podge.

“Visiting” with my grandparents. While my sister, Courtney, and her husband, Craig, were here for Christmas, we spent a lot of time with my grandparents, just sitting and talking…which provided ample opportunity for me to sit and sketch them. (Mwahaha…) My sister, Brenna, and my mom (who didn’t make it into this drawing) were also there. It’s great fun drawing people from life, especially now that I’ve had more practice at it and it comes a little more easily. Most of the time I’m too shy/self-conscious to look at people for very long, but drawing allows me to study them, so I notice quirks like how somebody will tilt and turn her head a lot, and someone else will frequently fold his hands.
